Frequently Asked Question

What is the ratio between floor size and floor cleaner size?
Answer: The size of a floor cleaner, measured by the “cleaning track”, which is the width effectively cleaned in one passage of the machine, is a decisive factor in the choice of machine, but we also need to consider other features, for example if the machine has mechanical or manual traction; whether it is a walk-behind or ride-on model. Generally speaking a walk-behind floor cleaner with mechanical traction, such as the Lepis mod. 56 (560 mm track width) or mod. 66 (660 mm track width), are suited to floor areas of up to 2000 m2, for larger areas ride-on machines are more suitable. For areas of around 500 m2 walk-behind machines with a cleaning track of 350-500mm are effective, such as our "Mini+" or "Nimbus".

What is the working autonomy of a walk-behind floor cleaner?

Answer: The average autonomy is approx. 2 hours, and depends on several factors: type of floor to clean, type of dirt and brush used, and the type of batteries installed.

How much detergent does a floor cleaner hold?
Answer: the average sized Leader 2000 walk-behind machines have tanks of at least 100 litres, even the smaller models with a 350 mm track the tank capacity is more than 30 litres. Leader 2000 tends to fit its machines with high capacity tanks, and it is important that the user has an appropriate quantity of detergent solution available in order to complete the job without interruptions or time wasting.

What type of dirt can floor cleaners handle?
Answer: Any type of dirt. For grease, sludge and particularly stubborn dirt, special brushes and specific rubber floor scrapers are recommended.

I need a sweeper to clean and indoor area of approx. 1500 m2, what kind of machine should I be looking at?
Answer: For internal use you need a battery-operated machine, not one with an engine, to avoid the emission of exhaust fumes into the room. The reasonably small area would make us consider a walk-behind machine with traction, such as our “Unica 800 BT” with an 800 mm cleaning track.

What is the autonomy of the sweepers?
Answer: Generally speaking around 2 to 2 ½ hours, but this depends on the type of floor and type of brushes used, as well as the type of batteries.

Generally speaking is it better to have a sweeper with a fuel engine or a battery?
Answer: If cleaning is to be done only indoors, a battery-operated machine is preferable, if at least 80% of cleaning is done outside then the model fitted with a fuel engine is ideal. The limit of use for a fuel engine model is determined by closed spaces, as the exhaust fumes are harmful if inhaled in large quantities as could happen indoors, in places with low ventilation. Fuel engine versions offer greater autonomy than battery operated ones however. The latter, however, can be used both indoors and out, and have an autonomy of at least 2 hours. Finally, the two types of power do not in any case change the structure, reliability or strength of the machine.

How many square metres can be cleaned using a walk-behind sweeper?
Answer: A surface area of up to 3000 m2 can be cleaned using a walk-behind machine. If however the area has to be cleaned several times a day, a ride-on sweeper is recommended.

What type of dirt can floor sweepers handle?
Answer: Any type of dirt. For grease, sludge and particularly stubborn dirt, special brushes and specific rubber floor scrapers are recommended.
